Question about the Max CPU option and CPU Use slider
Published on February 8, 2008 By Davabled In Dark Avatar
Does the "Force AI to use Max CPU" option in the game options screen overide the "CPU Use" slider in the edit race screen?

To put the question another way, does enabling "Force AI to use Max CPU" make the "CPU Use" slider useless/ignored by the game?

Searching the forum and wiki I've seen similar topics, but haven't found anything that clears this up for me.

I was wondering about this as well. I want to play a game against random AI opponents, all of whom are maxed on the "CPU Use" slider. However, you can't customize personality on random opponents, so I was hoping that the checkbox in the options would do the same thing for me.

Yes, it simply forces all the AI CPU sliders to the maximum.

But, lets hope that it doesn't crash the game.
So, if I would use "Max AI CPU" I would be careful if I have a 2x1.83 GHz.

I have a *single core* AMD 3200+ Barton. This is a very good processor, but hardly cutting edge. I have used the 'Max AI' option since it was made available, and have never experienced any slowdown, or any other problem for that matter.

I am truly sorry that you are having issues, but I assure you that they are being caused by something at your end- either software or hardware. Investigate a bit further. If you have any questions, post them here (in a civil tone) and you will find any number of people more than willing to help you figure it out.

Good luck.

I am running a laptop with a Turion 2 x 1.83GHz processor with no issues using "Force Max CPU for AI."

The only issues I *did* have related to video drivers and Kryo got me through that and gave me the heads up on some beta drivers that fixed the issues.

Hope this helps.
